Blood plays a big role in Macbeth. Blood symbolizes as guilt to Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. As guilt grows, so does the blood throughout the play. Lady Macbeth didn’t seem so bothered to murder Duncan. She seemed so confident before the murder, then after she stated, “My hands are as red as yours, but I would be ashamed if my heart were as pale and weak.” Macbeth was hesitant to murder Duncan so Lady Macbeth believed he was weak Lady Macbeth states, “My hands are of the colour; but I shame to wear a heart so white.” Her hands are bloody like Macbeth’s hands and she wouldn’t want to have white hands to show she is a cowards.
