More than 1800 students die each year due to alcohol related causes.
After researching this topic, I have come to the conclusion that the drinking age being 21 years of age is dangerous. The legal age for drinking alcohol should be lowered to eighteen years old; As an eighteen year old, they are considered adults, they can serve in the army, and they can already use tobacco. II. First i'm going to talk about how eighteen year olds are considered adults.

When you turn eighteen you can vote for the first time and even adopt a child.

For many a lot of people end up trying their first alcoholic beverage. D. Since they are drinking illegally they end up drinking excessive amounts since they do not know the next time they will be able to get there hands on more alcohol which is known as binge drinking. E. This leads to them making poor decisions and even death. F. According to Ruth Engs in her article “Why the drinking age should be lowered” dated 2014 she states that “22% of all students under 21 compared to 18% over 21 years of age are heavy drinkers.”
This shows that people under the drinking age tend to binge drink rather than people of age.
If the drinking age would be changed those numbers would change dramatically.
G. Also if the drinking age was lowered the eighteen year olds will be able to drink in safe environments like bars and easily obtain a ride home from a taxi or a friend.
H. Also if the drinking age was eighteen colleges would be able to regulate alcohol usage to keep their students safe.
According to Jeffrey Tucker “The Drinking Age Should be Lowered, Fast” dated 2016 he states that “Currently 135 colleges have signed support for a lowered drinking age.”
This number is currently growing and will maybe make an influence on changing the drinking
