Thomas Jefferson Dennis Brindell Fradin authored this book and gave it the title, “Who Was Thomas Jefferson?”. This book is about Thomas (he had no middle name) Jefferson’s life and accomplishments. Thomas Jefferson is known for doing and being many things including being the President of The United States of America and authoring the Declaration of Independence in 1776 which declared the United States freedom from Great Britain. Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13th, 1743 on his family’s plantation in Shadwell, Central Virginia. In 1826, at the age of eighty-three, marking the fiftieth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson died in Monticello. One of the most, if not the most, important contributions that Thomas Jefferson made was writing the Declaration of Independence, therefore officially declaring the United States independent from Great Britain. For example Jefferson’s ability to speak seven languages and play many musical instruments. I try to emulate this quality by trying to learn all that I can in school and trying very hard to learn, not only academic things, but musical things as well. Another quality that I admire about Thomas Jefferson is his honesty. For example when he promised one of his slaves, Sally Hemings, that he would state in his will that her children would be freed when he died. I try to emulate his quality of honesty by keeping true to my word and keeping my promises. Lastly, another quality that I admire about Jefferson is his kindness. For example, even though he did have slaves, he treated them well. I try to emulate this quality by helping classmates, if they have difficulty with homework and by helping my disabled neighbors with yard work.
