Why America Is Important To Me

Joe Barton once said, “Our flag honors those who have fought to protect it, and is a reminder of the sacrifice of our nation's founders and heroes. As the ultimate icon of America's storied history, the Stars and Stripes represents the very best of this nation. “ America is a place for great opportunities, freedom, and for finding the greatness in people. There are many opportunities for people in America. I am just a kid, yet I am able to go out and have a job. I have the ability to do what I want, not something I have to do. Some people live in places where there aren’t many jobs, so they have to have a common job. In America, we are able to choose what we want; the opportunities almost seem limitless.

Freedom is something not everyone gets. We have the right to say what we want, believe in what we want, wear what we want, and work where we want. We aren’t forced into religion, clothes, or an occupation. In some countries, if you go against their religious beliefs, or you are an atheist, you could be killed. For example, 10% of Burma’s population are killed because of religion. I am very grateful that I have the freedom to pick my clothes, my job, and my beliefs.

We have people out there who are willing to die, so others don’t have to: soldiers, police officers, and local heroes. Our country’s people are willing to stick their necks out to protect other people and their country, no matter what. More than 180,000 people join the military every year so they can help us. I come from a family very involved in military service. Some stayed in a long time, and some didn’t. They put themselves in danger to protect everyone
