On the dawn of the 16th century Spain along with many other countries set out to go explore across the ocean. Spain went exploring for God, glory, and gold. They became fully Catholic in the late fourteen hundreds and they went out to spread the word of God. They were able to voyage to other lands due to advancement in technology during the 1400’s like the magnetic compass. Another big factor in going across the ocean was for trade purposes because they were looking for a more direct path to India when they stumbled upon the America’s. All of these factors eventually lead to Columbus discovering America in fourteen-hundred and ninety-two.

The reason Columbus was sent out to explore was mainly so that he could find a quicker way to Asia and or India. Once the Spanish stumbled upon the America’s they said they were in the new world. And in essence they were because they encountered stuff they had never seen before and they brought things the Indians had never seen before. They brought both good and bad things with them like diseases, guns, and a craving for gold. And also the lead line helped explorers because it showed them how deep the ocean was at their location and it also could give them a sample of the ocean floor. All of these tools were crucial in the exploration of the America’s and without them we might not live in the luxurious country we live in.
The age of exploration had many pros and cons and it also had a lot of things it depended on. It was a good thing that it occurred because it helped shape our world today, but it was bad how it all turned out for people that already lived in the Americas like the Inca. And nothing would have ever occurred had the technology not advanced or had Ferdinand and Isabella not granted Columbus a charter.
