He ran against Paul Von Hindenburg. He came in second for both elections. After the victory of Hindenburg, he gave Hitler a chance to stay near him as chancellor of Germany. Having the position of chancellor, Hitler slowly began to have more control and authority of Germany. Soon Hitler was able to declare the Nazi Party the only legal political party. After the death of Hindenburg, Hitler took over becoming chancellor and leader of German. As soon as he was declared leader he began to prepare for war announcing the expansion of Germany. New laws were also proclaimed, prohibiting non-Jewish to marry Jewish Germans. At first, Hitler targeted children with disabilities followed by adults with disabilities. This signaled the beginning of the Holocaust.
The Holocaust began 1939 and ended 1945. The focus of the Holocaust was to clean German’s race. Hitler believed Germany should become a nation pure in race. Concentration camps and extermination camps were established under the leadership of Hitler, targeting Jews. Over 6 millions Jews were killed during this time period. Mass murders and unexplainable things were done to these innocent Jews. Hitler, not once visited any concentration or extermination camps nor spoke publicly about these unjustified
