People think animals are better off in captivity because they are ‘taken care of’, but why is there so much controversy on a topic like this is they're better off in captivity? Although we still have animals in captivity to this day I feel like it should be stopped.
Having animals in captivity is basically having them locked up like prisoners. They get taken away from their natural environment and placed in an artificial environments. Yes animals in captivity may be fed and ‘taken care of’, but they are also being placed in really harsh conditions that no animal should have to live in. No matter how much the animals are trained or how much trust there is between a wild animal and its trainer it will never be tamed. The animals will always have wild animal instincts. Instincts to hunt and kill. Cause of that they will never be “domesticated” or “tame.” For example, in Mexico a trainer was killed by one of the bengal tigers. He was bitten viciously and scratched. Every year captive animals are a part of incidents which humans are injured or even killed. Wild animals are wild for a reason and keeping them locked up in cages they're not wild anymore. Therefor why are they still called wild animals.
Animals in captivity are mistreated and it’s inhuman. In the documentary “Blackfish”, the orcas are treated horribly. Not just by the owners but by the whales as well. The orcas are forced to learn many tricks which put them under a lot of stress, and when the orcas are stressed they’ll rake each other. Raking is when the orca take out their aggression on the other whales and scratch each other forcefully with there teeth. The whales are also purposely not given food when they mess up or don’t do the act that the trainers want. This is a very cruel
