Many people are fearful of the day they are going to die and how it will happen. What many people don’t realize is how long they want to live for, and the quality of life that they are going to have towards the end. Unfortunately, many people do not live long enough to have the chance to think about this, before it is already happening. In the article, “Why I Hope to Die at 75”, Ezekiel J Emanuel tells the reasons why it is good for the family, friends, and society of the people who die, to pass around the age of 75.
In the article, Emanuel explains why he feels it is good to die at age 75; he also doesn’t agree with suicide or assisted suicide. According to Emanuel, people that attempt to take their own lives, or go to the doctor to have it done usually suffer from depression; hopelessness, or fear of losing their dignity and control. He also believes that people should try not to extend their life. Usually when people have surgical operations on themselves to stay alive, they don’t maintain the way of life that they were hoping for after the operation.
