Becoming a vet is not going to be an easy task to accomplish. I do realize that education needed for this career can be overwhelming. I have researched the courses that I will need, and I know it will take hard work and dedication. As I entered my freshman year in high school, I thought about what all becoming a vet would involve. It will take many years of schooling and many hours put in to become a vet. Veterinarians need to know how to diagnose and treat animals and do a lot of research and administration. Vets have long hours, are on call at all times and may even have to go out in rough weather conditions. Vets do not only work in the clinic, but in hospitals, on farms, dog kennels, and zoos. I have experienced a vet coming out to our farm to help witht he birth of a calf. So i do first hand how that works. I think about what type of vet I want to be one day. I know most vets work in a private practice and mainly treat small animals such as dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits. I am more than likely going to pursue a career in small animal practice. I am doing all I can now to prepare and be successful in this college career I have chosen. I have also spoken with one of our local animal clinics, and I hope to be able to volunteer this summer. That way I can experience hands on with the
