Luther helped his dream come true by leading the civil rights movement. His "I have a dream" speech is what is most remembered when you think of the southern leadership conference. The SCLC founded by Luther and his followers in 1957 was a civil rights organization, it helped educate the outsiders about racism. According to the history reference center "the SCLC continues to sponsor a number of programs, including voter registration ,education, truth and justice campaigns."(2) This is good because it teaches the public what happened so that it can't happen again. It advocated one of Luther's swishes of Non-violent passive resistance. The SCLC "advocated for the non-violent passive resistance as the means of securing equality for African- Americans."(History Reference Center 2). This evidence shows how so many people looked up to Luther. The SCLC still went on to lead the civil rights movement after Luther passed away. According to the history reference center "The SCLC was headed by Luther until his assassination in 1968. Ralph Aberthany headed in 1968-1977."
