The fight staged by Martin Luther King together with his allies to deliberate themselves from the jaws of racism and segregation resulted into several people being killed, jailed, or injured during demonstrations or picketing. In the year 1963, King together with his group led a demonstration in the city of Washington. He termed the demonstration a nonviolent type, meaning they were not supposed to destroy any property or disrupt the businesses of people. It is during that nonviolent demonstration that King was arrested and thrown behind bars. He was criticizing the Administrations which were doing little to address segregation although many African Americans were affected, a fact that led to picketing hence arrest and detention of King. Similarly, he criticized the church and the religious leaders who despite understanding how unethical segregation was, did nothing to support the campaign against racism and segregation. Moreover, his letter was also informing the same Administration that oppressed people can never remain forever oppressed. They must one day deliberate themselves.
