There is no real date that delineates the so called Middle Age from the Modern
World however, there are several reasons why this takes place around the 1500’s more specifically 1453. In 1453 the Byzantine Empire was supplanted by the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire restricted trade along the silk road and banned trading of coffee and ceramics by outsiders yet, this is not the only reason infact, there are at least 8 reasons why the modern world begins around 1500, namely: 1) Urbanization, 2) Global Trade (trans-saharan, silk road), 3) Age of exploration, 4) Spread of knowledge/ inventions, 5) End of crusades, 6) Rise of monarch/pope, 7)end of black death in Southern Europe, 8) similar boundaries as today (different from the Middle Age). Of this above-mentioned reasons there are 3 salient reasons in particular these are detailed below 1) Global trade, 2) spread of knowledge/ invention, 3) boundaries.

The Ottoman Empire banning trade along the silk road starts trade across the sea which starts exploration around the world. People starts to see the world in a different way when they start using different trade system. The modern world is closely associated with the development of individualism, capitalism, urbanization and and a belief in the possibilities of technological and political progress.
