As females are more likely to suffer stress fractures, which take longer to recover. In addition, there are challenges related to women such as menstrual cycles, sometimes pregnancy and birth, taking care of a new born or breastfeeding. These challenges are usually related to the operational environment. Under these health circumstances, obviously, there will be direct and significant impact on combat units.
One of the main reasons for why women can not serve in combat roles is the requirement for separate sleeping accommodation, because of the concern about women being subject to sexual crimes. As a result, the costs of integrating women into combat roles will increase. The Army and the Royal Marines have submitted cost estimates extend from a few thousand pounds to up to £20 million over ten years. (Brooke-Holland, 2016).As well as further costs from increased injury rates. Accordingly, a substantial amount of money would be saved by excluding female from combat roles.
