The number of the roles are opened to women in the armed forces but continue they are excluded from combat roles. There has been controversial debate among the public whether this exclusion should be maintained or issues such as unit cohesion, psychological health, economic consideration and physical ability would the impediment to not be allowed women to serve in combat units. This essay will examine these commonly arguments and show who these concerns contributed to prevent women to serve in combat roles.

One of the main reasons for why women can not serve in combat roles is the requirement for separate sleeping accommodation, because of the concern about women being subject to sexual crimes. As a result, the costs of integrating women into combat roles will increase. The Army and the Royal Marines have submitted cost estimates extend from a few thousand pounds to up to £20 million over ten years.
