The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a well-known organization that strives to improve the lives of injured veterans. The organization works hard to eliminate issues injured service members face after they have given so much in the service of our country. Since WWP is a non-profit organization, they are not concerned with profit in classic sense. The “profit” is earned in the benefits injured service members gain by the organization’s efforts. Recently, WWP has taken action to help improve the services available at the Department of Veterans Affairs. In order to determine the correct course of action WWP had to identify a need for assistance, separate relevant and non-relevant costs, identify results of the decision, and the implications of those results to ensure the organization is using funds in a manner consistent with their mission statement.

Over a period of several months WWP worked in concert with many veterans organizations to correct this injustice to veterans. Ultimately, WWP decided to focus their efforts on gaining attention of Congressmen and women to change the policy for the VA. “The combined efforts of the coalition included multiple trips to Capitol Hill, a series of letters to members of Congress, as well as channeling public support in the form of an online petition, thousands of emails to lawmakers, and social media” (WWP, 2016). The use of these online sources did not require the use of any funds from WWP. “The coalition brought families, including Matt and Tracy Keil, to Washington, D.C., to share their personal stories with members of Congress”(WWP, 2016). Since WWP worked together with other organizations, the cost of these trips was spread out and had even less impact than previously calculated.
