Creating a Vision Imagining and communicating a vision for an organization can be a difficult task, especially when the organization has recently undergone a significant change, as is the case with Yinscape and Yangsearch. Jick and Peiperl (2011) describe a good vision as being clear and concise, easily understandable, inspiring, challenging, centered around excellence, and tangible (p. 115). With that in mind, when developing a vision for Yinscape and Yangsearch, it is important to consider the strengths and weaknesses of each company and how they will complement each other post-merger, as well as the challenges the new company will face because of the merger. Among the biggest challenges facing Yinscape and Yangsearch is the fact that each company has a vastly different manner in which they operate. Yinscape is highly centralized and relies on a few large clients, while Yangsearch relies on individuals to be innovative and has a much more diverse clientele (Jick & Peiperl, 2011). Therefore, rather than only including top managers of the company in the meeting, I would open the meeting to all employees, video conferencing with the ones who cannot physically be there. Jick and Peiperl (2011) state the importance of reinforcing the message via words and actions in order to make the message more sincere. As the leader of a new company, I want all employees to be able to put a face to the words they are hearing, and show them that I am truly invested in them and in helping guide the company to new heights.
