Pathophysiology: coronary arteries stiffen or occulled from atherosclerosis
Impact on function: heart does not get oxygenated
Clinical manifestation adult: crushing chest pain
Clinical manifestation for older adult: 1. SOB

4. Women die more than men from CAD because symptoms are different and lack of education on it
5. Lack of O2: causes cognition changes, pain receptors slower, fight flight response to release epiephrine slower than adults

Pathophysiology: ischemic heart disease, hypertensive heart disease, valvular disease
Clinical manifestation for adult: dsypnea, orthopenea, paroxysmal nocturnal, dsypnea, dependant,
Clinical manifestation of older adult: same as adult, atypical symptoms often concurrent with COPD and anemia
Dsyrhythmia
Pathophysiology: pacemaker cells die off decreased response to catecholamine
Impact on function: goes off beat, makes the heart not beat as fast
Clinical manifestation for adult: palpation, anxiety, lightheadness, chest pain
Clinical manifestation of older adult: behavioral changes due to lack of O2, dsypnea, fatigue, falls, CHF, CAD
