These Flashcards will help memorize the most common decimal equivalents of fractions used in a machine shop (and other places).
Very useful to know these by heart when selecting drills. Or checking the length of a piece of material you just cut on the band-saw.
Think about it: you measure the material to be cut with a tape measure or a scale, to a fractional specification. Then, in many cases, check the first piece with dial or digital calipers. The calipers, of course will give you a decimal reading.
If you are not absolutely sure what the decimal equivalent is, chances are you are going to be making some very expensive mistakes!
"Measure Twice Cut Once" is a great practice, but useless if you measure twice wrong. |
