I am getting a "plug-in" error.

This means your browser is having trouble interacting with Adobe Acrobat Reader. You should update/reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader:

I am getting an "invalid color space" error.

This is commonly seen with older versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Updating your Acrobat Reader should fix the problem. You can get the update here:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

The updated Acrobat Reader is all that should be required, and it’s free—you won’t need to purchase anything.

I can view the documents without any problems, but when I try to print them, I only get a blank page.

Make sure you are using the print button in the Acrobat toolbar, and not the print function of your browser. When Acrobat is loaded in your browser, you should have an extra toolbar that looks like this:

Use the print button from this toolbar to print.

I received an error message that read, "Acrobat Reader: There was an error processing a page. A font contains a bad CMap/Encoding." What does that mean?

This may mean that a more recent version of Acrobat Reader is needed to open the file. Try downloading the latest version of the software (which is free) from the Adobe Web site.

What is a pdf study document? How do I create one?

A pdf study document is a specially formatted pdf document intended for off-line study rather than printing. This document has one question or answer per page and can allow you to study when not on the internet by using the right and left arrows on your keyboard to navigate forward or backward through your flashcards. The Adobe Reader will even read your flashcards out loud!

To create a pdf study document:

  1. Find the flashcards you want to print and navigate to the print page.
  2. from the pdf study options click either:
    1. Optimize for off-line study if you intend to study from your computer.
    2. Optimize for PDA if you intend to study from your PDA (learn more).
  3. Make any additional setting modifications you prefer.
  4. Click the View PDF Printout button.
  5. Save this document using the save button from within the Adobe Reader. Give it a good name and make a note of where you save it!

You will now always be able to study these flashcards, even when you are not on-line. Remember that you can use the left and right arrows to navigate. Pdf study documents can even be downloaded to your PDA for mobile study!
