The Chicago Blackhawks are one of the most famed organizations in not only the National Hockey League, but in sports across the board. The team has a long-standing history of success, but recently the team has remained one of the most dominant groups in sports. The club has won three of the last six Stanley Cup Championships; the most recent being the 2015 championship. Unfortunately for the team, leadership and the fans that follow, the Blackhawks were unable to make it to the Stanley Cup finals to close out this season, but they are still in a position to be an impactful team in the near future. The Blackhawks were eliminated from the playoffs by the St. Louis Blues on April 25 when they dropped Game 7 with a 3-2 loss. This is after rallying to tie the series that started off 3-1 in favor of the Blues. Such a turnaround created an air of excitement that would be lost when the Blackhawks were sent home in what many consider to be an early exit. “This is a huge disappointment to me,” Head Coach Joel Quenneville said during the post-game press conference after the Game 7 defeat. “We didn’t get that excitement factor; we didn’t get that investment to take off.”…

An Eerie Gray “Blood is thicker than water” is a very commonly used proverb. It portrays water as ties between friends. Blood being the bond within a family. This allows for a different meaning; that the blood within a fellowship is stronger than that of birth (water of the womb), of which I agree…

Milan and Chicago are my two favorites cities. Have you ever wondered what Chicago and Milan have in common? Both of the cities have a strong economy and a big population, but Chicago is a modern city and Milan is old, but a little modernized. The Italian city, Milan, is recognized as the capital of design and culture whereas the American city, Chicago, is known as the Windy City. city of Chicago, Illinois, made a bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Although they came close to victory, the International Olympic Commission (IOC) awarded the hosting rights to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while Chicago was knocked out in the first round of voting (“Rio to host 2016 Olympics,” 2009). It was a memorable win for South America as Rio became their first city to ever host an Olympics. In contrast, Chicago’s loss left its own inhabitants with some mixed feelings. While many…

    S. Secretary of Education William Bennett was reported saying that Chicago’s public school system was the worst in the nation. Bennett had been invited to speak on the issue by an organization of business leaders called Chicago United. In the meeting Bennett was quoted saying “if it’s (CPS) not the last, I don’t know who is. There can’t be very many more cities that are worse. Chicago is pretty much it” (Banas). Following the meeting, publications released statements and articles containing the…

Chicago is known to be one of the most violent cities to reside in in America. We need help, and we want a dramatic action. Violence is out of control, in some areas of Chicago, and it is happening every day. Gun violence is a very serious problem because no one is safe not even our children. Parents worried about their children safety when they send them to school, hoping they do not become another firearm victim. Chicago residents have placed metal bars in their windows and doors because they…

These homicides happen most commonly in the southern neighborhoods of the city, notably areas such as Englewood, Austin, and Humboldt Park just to name a few.
