    every nerd’s fantasy and seventy years prior to that television was a glimmer in a young inventor’s eye. In fact, for the majority of known history the spread of information has been by print. Whereas, the advancement of technology such as radio, internet, and television allowed new mediums for news to be spread to the general public. As well as increased ways for the information to be framed in ways favorable to the bias of the reporter or news agency. Arguably the most important result of these technological advancements is the invention of the twenty four seven cable news networks. Dan Rather, a news correspondent, anchor, and managing editor for forty four years is disappointed by the continuous news cycle created by networks such as CNN, MSNBC, and Fox. “The advent of the 24/7/365 news coverage, with the proliferation of cable news stations that followed CNN’s launch in 1980 has carried a great but largely unfulfilled promise to those who care about the state of our nation and our world.” (Rather, 2008, p. 1) Rather’s describes that promise as the idea that since these news networks are freed from column inches, word counts, and time constraints of older forms of media, they will be able to devote more time and resources to an in depth analysis of the issues. This becomes significant when viewed in terms of political coverage of candidates and their campaigns.
