Diclofenac has been used (as the sodium salt) for topical treatment of AK since the 1990s (Rivers and McLean, 1997). The rationale for the use of this non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug is the over expression of the cycloxygenase-2 enzyme in AK and SCC compared with normal cells (Buckman et al., 1998). In studies with SCC cell cultures, the commercial preparation, Solaraze™, when diluted to 0.2-0.3% was observed to promote apoptosis in certain sensitive cell lines (Fecker et al. 2010). Although sodium hyaluronate is included in the commercial gel formulation (Solaraze®), the precise function of this component remains unclear (Table 2). Systemic absorption of diclofenac from Solaraze™ has been reported but comparator studies with other diclofenac…

(Taggart, 2007) As a result, feral dogs had a sudden abundant source of carcasses to feed on as they have replaced vultures as the main scavengers. Not only did feral dog population numbers explode as a result of the absence of…

The researchers compared both biologically produced manganese oxides and chemically produced manganese oxides for the oxidation of diclofenac. Because biologically produced manganese oxides are known to have high specific surface areas and high catalytic reactivity, this substance offers higher rates of oxidation for diclofenac when compared to chemically produced manganese oxides.² If biologically produced manganese oxides prove to completely eliminate diclofenac from the water supply, the…

Results Table 1 showed that oral administration of Diclofenac sodium at 150mg/kg.b.w. resulted in a significant increase in renal tumor necroses factor -α (TNF-α), nitric oxide (NO) and thiobarbaturic acid reactive substances (TBARS) compared to the normal control group (p< 0.01). Rat receiving extract of any of the two doses of cranberry extract used in this study (75 and 150mg/kg.b.w.) showed a significant decrease in renal TNF-α, NO and TBARS compared to the group that received Diclofenac…
