“If a chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me, without my stir” (1.3.157-159). Shakespeare believe that our action determines our fate as shown through Macbeth.. In Shakespeare's Macbeth, the tragedy began when Macbeth became the victim of his own desire. Every downhill and event was created through his own will. The prophecy was told, but it was up to him decides to carry on the murder of King Duncan. The witches foretell the future, but they did not control his action. Macbeth has the free will that would make it possible to behave virtuously, whatever the witches have predicted. Macbeth was in control of himself and responsible for his action. He is aware of his fate, but believes only his action can fulfill it. He was greatly influenced by others around him, mainly lady Macbeth and the witches. But in the end, it was him alone who is responsible for his own action. Throughout the play, fate was introduced when Macbeth and Banquo first encounter the witches. The text evidence shows when the witches gave prophecy about Macbeth and Banquo. “All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Glamis! All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter” (1.3.49-53). The witches tell Macbeth that he is the thane of Glamis, will be the thane of Cawdor, and shall be the future king of Scotland. This is the first example of fate in the play. Macbeth heard the prophecy for the very first time which marks the beginning Macbeth fate.…

could offer you a place to stay if you’d like.” Fleance assiduously examined the dirt-ridden floor. His father had warned him against the dangers of the world. The three characters I would give gifts to are Lady Macbeth, Macbeth, and Macduff. I would give Lady Macbeth a gold star for doing a good job covering up her husband’s deed. “Woe, alas! What, in our house” (Macbeth Act 2 Sc 3 li. 64-65). Lady Macbeth did a good job pretending that she didn’t know anything about Duncan’s death; therefore, this action deserves a golden star. The next character I would give a gift to is Macbeth. I would give Macbeth a flashlight so he could see in the dark. In…
