    Gottlieb Daimler He was the inventor of the light engine. Spielvogel noted that this invention was “the key to the development of the automobile” (692). A decade later, a large number of cars has been produced. The invention of the engine was very important because it gave rise to the emergency of the large car factory as well as the aircraft industry. It should be studied today because Daimler was a representative figure in the early history of the automotive industry, whose invention presented a new approach to view the transportation. The automobile would not be created without this engine. White-collar jobs They were various job opportunities created due to the expansion of government service and the development of the large-scale factory buildings. Spielvogel noted that “Although there was little hope for advancement, these jobs had distinct advantages for the daughters of the middle classes and especially the upward-aspiring working classes” (697).
