explore the subject in his writing. Also in the novel, the main character had written an article about normal people and gifted people, who are above the law. The main character thinks he is above the law and he has the right to commit immoral acts because he is pursuing greatness, and that could be another parallel to the tsar because of his leadership position and his comfort with breaching moral code (when he was about to execute innocent philosophers and intellectuals, and when he stifled harmless literature study). Because of Dostoyevsky's arrest and time spent in labor camp, this novel was written and I think part of it is because he wanted to understand Nicholas I's point of view by writing in a similar one. Shishkin's oil portrait Ivan Nikolaevich Kramskoy (1880) shows the progression to a more modern time with the use of photorealism vs. the popular impressionist style of recent years. It was also part of an art exhibition in Russia that spread social reform throughout the country, this was the beginning of a revolutionary movement which reflects Russia's move to the modern world as well. Despite the restriction of art exhibitions to Saint Petersburg, this exhibition traveled throughout the country to allow peasants to appreciate the art. They used the exhibition to start changing their country and help citizens realize they needed a change. It brought about the sharing of art to different places and challenged exclusivity problems by bringing it to as many…

There is no doubt that Turgenev had reformist tendencies; he moved amid the circles of the Russian intelligentsia (Freeborn 1994, 39), which would have in turn born some influence on him. In regard to this controversial character, Turgenev said, ‘in the main character, Bazarov, there lay the figure of a young provincial doctor that struck me’…

There are many more things that make up Pavlov’s contribution to psychology, including other psychologists that we would not even know about without Pavlov. A Three Second Memory? There is a common belief that fish only have a three second memory and that they cannot be trained to compete tricks, and this may be caused by the short lifespan of some species of fish, making testing for long term memory difficult (Reebs, 2008, p.1). Moreover, many assume that goldfish do not have a memory since goldfish always seem like they are hungry, since they are always seen foraging for food. However, as a long time goldfish owner, I have witnessed my goldfish…

After receiving this assignment, the behavior that I knew I needed to change was my sleeping habits. Usually at night, I will stay up until 4 in the morning because I am either doing homework or messing around with my friends. Since I have to wake up at 8 in the morning for my classes, I only receive about 4 hours of sleep a night. This causes me to take a lot of naps during the day to make up for the missed hours. My roommate always complains that I need to stop sleeping during the day because…

Every movie has multiple techniques that coordinate with each other in order to bring the meaning of it all together. The movie Creed, directed by Ryan Coogler, is one that uses these techniques quite nicely in order to show the determination of the main character, Adonis Johnson. From the very beginning of the film a big technique that stands out is narrative, which provides the structure of the movie. It begins with an extremely noticeable motif of Adonis Johnson at a juvenile detention,…
