My Aid in Life January 6th , 2011 felt like the end but it was a new beginning. This was the day that my parents divorced, and my mother and myself took a flight to Orlando, Florida, from Boston. The previous months were filled of heartbreak, addiction, sorrow, and secrets. Truly, I find it amazing how things can change so fast in just a short amount of time. The things I went through at that time were almost unbearable; but I can deeply thank Alex, my counselor, for all the motivation and strength truly in me. Moving to Florida changed, what felt like- almost everything to me. I left behind my father, brother, and many family members to remove ourselves from an unhealthy environment. As soon as we got to my grandmother’s house all I could possibly think to myself was that this wasn’t my home; but I needed to adapt. Nothing felt right, and honestly I felt numb for the first couple days. I faked smiles, told myself I was going to be okay when I truly felt otherwise. As the days passed by, my mother was going through this tough time as well, but she started to notice the depression growing on me. We sat down and vented to one another at times, but the pain and uneasy feeling was still there. At that moment she decided that I needed to seek some more emotional help.
