With the invention of such techniques, neuroscience proceeds into what Roger Sperry labeled as, “the materialist ‘micro determinist’ view of nature in which all mental and brain functions are determined by, and can be explained by, brain physiology and neuronal activity.” Conclusions similar to Roger Sperry’s poke at both scientific and philosophical beliefs, and lead to a localized interpretation of the mind/brain connection. The link is commonly explained in terms of the connection between the brain’s hemispheres, the brain’s ability to recognize faces, and the influence of brain damage on personality and behavior. The localization of specific mental processes was explored by Roger Sperry’s split-brain studies. Split-brain studies consisted of severing the corpus callosum; the large bundle of axonal fibers connecting the two cerebral hemispheres split-brain procedures were performed on animals, but eventually the procedure was used as a last option for a small group of epilepsy patients. Roger Sperry and his collaborators noticed, “direct awareness was no longer unified” in their spilt-brain patients (Jeeves and Brown, 2009, p. 59) The major discovery of Roger Sperry’s spilt brain study, however, was the separate awareness of the right and left cerebral hemispheres. The split-brain studies produced evidence supporting the different aptitudes of the…

When people play this game they get to experience the character as they would in the books, but this time in the real world. Instead, read what the character does or say, people actually hear and see what they do, and it would make those characters more natural…

The documentary is a fun resource for those who want basic facts, but leaves some facts to assumptions and seems to gloss over…
