This list was specially complied for the needs of business IT students. It is intended to enable non-native speakers to use IT English properly at school and later in their professional lives. The vocabulary items selected meet the following criteria:

- they relate to the core concepts of business IT
- they are given prominence in numerous IT textbooks and web pages for IT students

The purpose of this vocabulary ist not to teach students the basics of IT, but to teach IT students how to use the most common IT phrases in proper English. Accordingly, the focus of this vocabulary list is not on the technological definitions, but on the collocations and the example sentences accompanying each vocabulary item.
