            <title>Calculating Note Values by String</title>
            <link>http://www.flashcardexchange.com/flashcards/view/864665</link>
<description>Drills the amount to add or subtract from a fretboard coordinate. For example, at coordinate E8, because this is on the E string, to calculate the note value either add 7 (remember, we are counting in base 12), or subtract 5. This is a value judgment: At E8 the calculation would be 8+7=15. Because 15 exceeds 12, we subtract 12 to get the note value of 3 (a C). In the alternative, we calculate 8-5=3. With regard to fretboard coordinate E8, it is easier to subtract.</description>
