Wine Theory: Rudd Roundtable Questions, January 2011

During the Rudd Roundtable event in January of 2011, sommeliers were asked to submit theory questions from different subjects to ask each other. Thank you to Master Sommelier Geoff Kruth for providing the questions...although I've done my best to research the answers, any erroneous answers are strictly my fault, and I encourage my fellow Guild of Sommeliers members to let me know of any necessary corrections!--Ed Hodson

Basically you've got regions on one side of the card, & DOCGs on the other. What's a DOCG, you ask? Well, what we're talking about here is a Vino a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG). Similar to the DOC but more stringent. Allowable yields are generally lower, and DOCG wines must pass an evaluation of a tasting committee before they can be bottled.
