This is a partial list of clauses that are associated with the Subjunctive Mood. These clauses denote a quality of uncertainty or subjectivity. Seeing these clauses in a sentence signals the necessity for conjugating that corresponding verb using the Subjunctive.

When to Use the Subjunctive.

Using the subjunctive in spanish is a challenge for english speaking students because the subjunctive tense is not used as often in english as it is in spanish. For example I was not aware of the subjunctive tense until I began to learn spanish. Aside from its limited use in english it seems to me that the rules for use of the subjunctive tense in spanish are very much tied to the cultural norms Iberian and Latin American culture again making it difficult for the english speaker to understand the importance of the subjunctive tense in day to day life. The examples and the rules where taken from "501 Spanish Verbs."<br /><br />I've set the cards up with a sample phrase as the question. The answer should be the rule for the use of the subjunctive tense for the particular example.
