            <description>Objectives:
Students will be able to use their knowledge of fractions to play games.
Materials:
Fraction Flashcards
Procedures:
Divide the class into 3 teams. The first team gives the second team 1 fraction flashcard. The second team has 2 minutes to decide if the second fraction is more, less, or equal to the first fraction. The third team has 30 seconds to pass or challenge the answer. 
In the next round, the second team presents the fractions and the third decides if they are more, less, or equal. The first team can challenge. 
You will continue rotation for each round. Five points are scored for a correct answer; 5 are taken away in the challenge is wrong. 25 points wins the game.
Extention: 
Divide the class into 2 groups, draw a tic-tac-toe grid on board, write an &quot;x&quot; on the right side of the board, and an &quot;O&quot; on the left side of the board as each groups logo. Have 1 student from each group approach board, teacher calls out question having to do with lesson, students write the correct answer as quickly as possible. Teacher asks the class who is correct and why. The first student with the first correct answer, writes their groups logo on the tic-tac-toe grid. The first team to get a straight line of 3 is the winning team. 

Competition should not be empahsized during these games. Students are told the real winning team is the one who gave the most positive reinforcement.

Set Description:  
These cards can be used with punctuation cubes to play a game. To make the cube, place a period, question mark and exclamation point, one on each side of a blank cube(die). To play the game, place cards face down in columns and rows. Instruct the students to take turns rolling the punctuatuion cube. The student rolling the cube turns over a card, reads it and deternmines the correct punctuation. If the student rolled the correct punctuation he keeps the card and takes another turn. If the student did not roll the correct punctuation, the student turns the card facedown and the next student takes a turn. Play continues until each card is collected. The player with the most cards wins.
