When designing the different methods to use, Lara outlines some key ways to properly design this training program, such as Providing Feedback and Stimulating Recall of Prior Knowledge. I like these because they relate to the Active Learning and that is exactly what is needed in this type of situation. The knowledge that needs to be learned and developed to allow faculty to become a part of administration needs to cover a broad range of topics and cannot be simply learned as if the tasks are routine. This training will require adaptive expertise, the ability to use knowledge and skills across a range of tasks, settings and situations. With that being said the Active learning approach should be used as it gives trainees more control over the learning so they become active participants in the learning as they learn from experience. To bring about this training, Exploratory Learning and Emotion Control are two effective ways to teach it. With Exploratory Learning the trainees can experiment with training tasks to learn the rules and strategies to effectively perform them in the work environment. Further, with all the stress that may come from Active Learning, Emotional Control is imperative in the training design as it will ensure trainees keep in a positive and calm state of mind if the training becomes …show more content…
Questions- Sometimes instructors forget to ask questions to gauge whether the teaching is working. This can be a big problem and simply asking if there are any questions will not solve this. Again this is where the importance of participating comes into play. The program has to give a high value to it.
9. Feedback- After each class or at least periodically, feedback should be given. It should be anonymous, but mandatory to provide to ensure that a training program such as this can serve its purpose. The instructor can even make adjustments throughout. Having no feedback or the feedback after will do nothing to help any issues.
10. Media, Materials, and Facilities- These three basically have to do with the environment. The trainer should be flexible with Media and Facilities. If the power goes and media is not usable or the facility is not well-lit the trainer needs to have a backup plan. Knowing the notes or at least having their own printouts will help with Materials, and ensuring there is a backup room to use for faculty will ensure the facilities are not a problem. The media being clear and understandable is the biggest difference between a good training program and a bad
