It is imperative that the Joint Force be prepared to engage increasingly advanced foes who not only have cutting-edge warfighting capabilities, but may also be capable of offensive operations in space and cyberspace. In order to address this potential capability gap, the U.S. must make technological investments its highest priority. The U.S. currently enjoys an advantage over its competitors in this domain and the pros of maintaining this advantage provides freedom of movement in space and cyberspace. In the current environment, many technological breakthroughs are commercial based and the competition is global, with other countries trying to catch up with the U.S. If the U.S. forfeited this advantage, it would be a significant blow to the Joint Force.
