He paid attention to small details. The only thing we found redundant was the mixing of both Hindi and English in dialogs. We would have rather he stuck to one language, Hindi preferably to capture the true essence of the plot. He could have just made the actors use English in times of communication with foreigners.
Simon Beaufoy, the screenwriter of the movie wrote the screenplay based on South Africa’s Boeke Prize and Paris’ Prix Grand Public award winning novel “Q & A”. The novel was written by Vikas Swarup, an Indian novelist and diplomat. The book was published in 2005. The book has then been adapted into the movie in 2009 that has won numerous Oscar awards. Simon has indeed done a great work transforming the novel into such a realistic script.
The dialogs had a natural essence to them, nothing excessive. The characterization was very good, and having a cast with well-experienced actors like Anil Kapoor and Irfan Khan gave the whole cast a compact foundation. One character that stood out was Jamal’s older brother, Salim. He was selfish in the beginning but turned into a better person by the end of the movie. He was the one who took advantage of Jamal whenever he could, but he also helped Jamal in desperate times, and
