The author's purpose is to show that Abilene is slowly pulling away from the belief in stereotypes. She is saying that we are all different no matter who or what we are. Maybe there are some of us who don't fit into a group, independents. This has an impacts towards the stories message because throughout the whole book she was wondering where her home was, who she was, who her dad was, and who everyone was. When she said this she must have realized that it is not who they are, but what they are. They are already something and they are all so different.
D. At my school, everyone hangs out with the people they have things in common with, but even if they are stereotyped and belong to a certain group does not mean they are different from everyone else. Everyone is special and everyone brings something new to the table and I love
