This excavation took over three years to fully unearth all the burial grounds within the pyramid. Without delay, the archaeologist started finding vivid artistic records of the environment and the Moche’s culture and also the supernatural realm. While not having a writing system, vivid artistic depictions was their writing system. Soon enough, the archaeologists started coming across “ceramic vessels, elaborately crafted metal objects, sumptuous textiles and colorful murals” (Donnan 3). When excavating the tombs, it was discovered that the Moche were buried with these items. These items were based off social status, but was discovered that the Moche did not wear different outfits. The way the archaeologists could tell social ranking within the Moche Civilization was within their ornaments, whether that was a headdress, metal staff, or even ear ornaments. If one had a higher social status, then the tomb would have increasingly rich and sophisticated ornaments and
