In the Case against Character by Kwame Appiah, it states that virtue ethics strives for eudaimonia, which is the idea that being a virtuous person makes a life more flourishing (403). Appiah believes that both situational and virtuous ethics have half-truths. Virtue ethics, or Globalist stated by Hursthouse is a virtuous person, someone who acts upon virtue, and lastly has a virtuous trait to live in eudaimonia (Appiah 402). Going back to the question asked in the beginning, someone dying, asking if he was a virtuous person because of his deeds or his character; a globalist would say your character is the virtuous factor.
