Research shows that, “immediately after one session of physical activity, children increase their attention, memory, and reduce inappropriate behavior, such as being unfocused and distracting others (Activeliving.org 2015).” This statement shows how after engaging in physical activity, children can increase their attention, memory, and reduce inappropriate behavior. As teachers we want our students to succeed well in school and increase learning. This is why I will advocate for a healthy and active classroom. I want my students to succeed well in school. Another reason why I will advocate for an active and healthy classroom is because it increases their attention and memory. This is good for when students take a unit test or standardized test. Also, it is important for my students to be healthy and active because it great for their overall health. As teachers we care about the student as a whole and we want their bodies be healthy because it is good for them in the long run. Students learn by examples. We as teachers are the students’ role models. If we show students that being healthy and active has great benefits to it than they could copy us. Another way I could advocate for a healthy and active classroom is by getting my other fellow teachers involved. This way you are getting the whole school involved. The other teachers could help you advocate to the principal to turn your whole entire school into being healthy and active. If the test scores and behaviors improved, then as a school you could present your findings to the school district and get the school district involved in promoting healthy and active
