The ensemble was the first Asian-American theatre in San Diego. The ensemble provided Asian-American actors with major roles unavailable to them at the time in mainstream shows. Lowe even said that the students who came to see the show would comment that some actors looked like them. Every year since its incorporation, the company has produced at least one production in pursuit of their mission. Challenges in working with school audiences have led them to increasingly diverse efforts. The Asian Story Theater has been a successful theater, and has been sponsored by many companies. Schoolchildren from around the city have visited the theater, in order to learn about Far East Asian culture through theatre. Several teachers throughout the city wanted to show their schoolchildren about ancient cultures and traditions. The Asian Story Theater has resource kits for children, in order for them to understand more about Asian culture. They have done yearly theater productions related to the Lunar New Year Celebrations. This year was the Year of the Monkey. So, the Asian Story Theater has made a production on it, called Monkey in the Mirror. I like how she makes her plays interactive for schoolchildren to learn about Chinese heritage. Since the theater is so close to my house, I would love to see a show there. I think it is very interesting to see how the Chinese people make their theater productions, since I am very used to American theater productions. I also would like to gain more knowledge of Chinese culture. I went to an Indian festival in San Diego last year, and saw how each state in India is different from another state. It was very interesting to see the people from different states portray their cultures on stage. Based on what I saw at the festival, and what I have learned about Asian theater, I am really interested in seeing how Chinese actors and actresses portray their cultures on stage. This Asian theater could lead me to see other plays about the Chinese culture, and I might be able to see comedies, as well as other genres on the Chinese. I also would love to go see theater productions on other cultures after learning about Asian American theater. It is through learning about other cultures, that people become less ignorant towards each other. Overall, I think that actually going to cultural theaters will make me understand more about
