Some people say that euthanasia is morally wrong. The government should not interfere in the most intimate and personal decision of citizens—the choice to end their lives (Rudden, Lawrence). The government likes to interfere in many of our personal lives, from spying to keeping tabs on all of our personal information. why should we let the government tell people with a terminal illness that they do not have the right to self-termination. The state of Oregon enacted the Death with Dignity Act in 1997, which made it the first state to legalize physician-assisted suicide. However, the U.S. Department of Justice has challenged the law on the grounds that prescribing drugs to be used in an assisted suicide is not a legitimate medical purpose for those drugs (Rudden, Lawrence).
