You might have witnessed strange behaviors from children or adults. You ask yourself, what could be wrong with them? Well it could be ASD, also known as Autistic Spectrum Disorder which can affect anybody at any age. Autistic Spectrum Disorder is a mental disorder with no true origin or cause, it’s well known throughout the world, attacking our brain and mind with fury, causing minimal to severe mental disorders, various physical ,mental, and dietary treatments are used to handle ASD.

Parents hear that their child has been diagnosed with ASD, they feel fear, guilt, sadness and many other emotions. It is hard raising a child with ASD, it may lead to stress, effects in family finances, it can even lead to strain in your marriage or relationship between siblings, support groups are available to help families by given tips/help. (“Autistic” 4). ASD does not have to be the end of the world for children. Dr. Ashen explains, that humanity exists along a bell curve or little hill where the people who are smart are at one end, the not so smart at another end, and the average people are in the middle, but among the smartest people there are people that have ASD (Lapa 30). Not all bad comes from having ASD, it could lead to something good down the road one day.
There was no true cause for the behaviors of ASD in the fifties. People thought that the autistic behaviors in children were caused by mothers that were to lazy to teach their children good social skills. Now we know that was not the case. (HEYWORTH 84). Today is known that ASD is caused by some type of brain development that went wrong. More than one factor could be playing a role but that will remain a mystery (Kaufmann and Silverman 1).
