Reviewing the easyInsight:Baldrige Self-Assessment provided clearer understanding into the level of knowledge of the current Buckeye Career Center principal compared to myself. In terms of quantification, the principal answered 86% of the questions easily with the other 14% falling into the “could answer” category. In comparison, I found myself much less prepared to clearly answer many of the questions (63% Easily or could answer and 37% difficult to answers). One strength of the the organization is its ability to review and update policy as necessary. In the past year, both the technology handbook has been updated changing the student incentive portion of the 1:1 program and the attendance policy has been improved by changing statement that may have led to exclusion of students (no dreadlocks). The policy with the most flexibility is (from my perspective) is the absence policy. The policy states clearly when students will be removed from the school for lack of attendance but in reality the school provides a number of chances beyond what is defined in the written policy for students to make up time and stay at BCC. While the flexibility of the policy can be described in terms of helping the individual student, the truth is that BCC, as a school of choice, must find ways to retain students in the current
