This is because males are easily more sexually aroused visual stimuli and frequently than females, when male and female expose themselves voluntarily to erotic stimuli, recent studies indicate that they usually experience sexual arousal, they tell very little about sexuality as it exist in ordinary (Symons 1980:177). This may come into the equation when female select whom they mate with.
As you can see in this essay Bateman’s theory sets the basis for Trivers parental investment model which means that Trivers theory is the in depth version of Bateman’s. Whereas Bateman’s theory just ends in the conception of the offspring, Trivers’ gives an idea of what happens after conception and why humans select their mate especially female according to what happens to the offspring form the conception to adulthood.
