I used the Intake Form as a process that helps me to know my client better as well as provide me a general idea of her objectives and expectations. This form helps me to collect the information needed to orientate Jane the best possible to resolve or manage her conflict. In order to get her confidence, I choose “a solid analytic approach and effective strategy for intervention” (Jones & Brinkert, p.31, 2008) to articulate my Comprehensive Conflict Coaching Model (CCCM). The format I chose collects standard information about my client such as her name and last name, her age, her heritage/place of birth, religious preferences, the level of her education, and some statements that will help me to define if conflict coaching is the desired and…

Since my clients and I never had that practitioner-client bond, it was odd for me in the beginning. Also, this intervention is new between my client and I, and they were not use to me approaching them with questions like such. At first I felt a bit nervous because I wasn’t sure if I was asking the right questions at the right time. Even when I did ask them for their feedback, I felt awkward asking them because it sounded like I was making it about me. I was taking additional time away from the session to see how they felt my service delivery and although that’s important, I felt selfish.…

When developing and implementing positive effective curriculum and interventions for students with EBD it is key not only to focus on their student’s emotional behavior disorder disability but each has their own unique academic, social and health needs that have to be addressed per his or her IEP. Educators need to work and communicate with their student’s learning support teams, understand not only their academic community but also their social/home communities. They need to work and communicate with their parents to understand any outside factors that may effect their EBD student’s behaviors. The following is an example of how two different approaches of CBI curriculum for students with aggressive behavior can be developed. It shows how the…

A functional behavioral assessment (FBA) is performed in order to provide information to determine why a student is engaging in a problem behavior. Students usually repeat behaviors in order to avoid or escape an unpleasant situation or task or in order to seek attention. For example a student may act out in class during math because the student finds the task difficult or boring. Another example is a student may act out in class in order to receive attention from the teacher or his/her peers. We decided to use a Behaviorally Anchored Rating system (BARS) to evaluate teachers over various other methods due to several reasons. First, (BARS) minimizes these forms of bias; central tendency bias, where the rater tends to rate everyone near the average; a leniency bias, where the reviewer rates everyone near the top; strictness bias, the rater rates everyone near the bottom of the scale. Other rating systems, such as the graphic rating scale and mixed standard scale, are prone to rater bias and they do not have as clear of standards per rating. One raters five may be another 's four even if the teacher displays the same qualities. While the Behavioral Observation Scale (BOS) may be more specific than the previously mentioned systems,…
