These are necessary changes that we seek to achieve with our next contract:
1.) Amend existing language in CBA 13.E.
2.) Increase in life insurance payout including a proportionate increase for hostile area flying.
3.) A continuation of healthcare with no change in premium for surviving family, for no less than two years after the pilot 's death.

This was a gain over the previous CBA, but continues to fall short of the cost of living increase. Keeping in mind that our subsequent CBA might be delayed for years when our next CBA becomes amendable, we should seek a basic payout of $1 million and proportionate amount for hostile flying. Many of our pilots are married and have several children. They are often the sole provider for the household. A middle to late middle aged spouse with children are often left destitute with our current amount.
The premiums need to be covered by the Company if the pilot is out on long term medical. The FO Kilgore tragedy is a great example why. Mark Kilgore was out on Long Term Medical when he died. He was receiving COBRA, but somehow the paperwork to continue his AD&D and Life Insurance was “overlooked.” The Company claims that they never received the completed forms. The Kilgore family stated that Mark did not or would not neglect to return the forms needed to continue the benefits. For those who are familiar with his circumstances, it was obvious that in his later days he was very sick and incapable of managing his affairs. His family did not have enough money to bury him. They were left impoverished. The basic premiums for AD&D and Life Insurance should be covered up until the end of the pilot 's employment regardless of his COBRA
