Our team was a part of the corporate mergers and acquisition (M&A) department, and was assigned the task of identifying two potential acquisition targets. Since our Board is committed to a strategy of horizontal integration, we only looked for possible acquisitions from within our industry. It has been discussed since the 19th century. The idea of relying on energy that is infinite and regenerative has been a very strong appeal to civilizations. “Renewable energy is currently responsible for 11 percent of America’s domestic energy production, with over 125 GW of operating renewable power projects (56.8 GW from non-hydro technologies) and 13 billion gallons of biofuels projects. The biofuels industry alone displaces the need for roughly 445 million barrels of oil, more than the total estimated crude oil imports from Saudi Arabia last year.” (McGinn) Solar energy is the most well-known renewable energy supply. Renewable energy would “forge a strong post-carbon energy economy that will serve both people and the planet well.”
