RE: ACI Case Study
In response to your request for creation of a motivation system for your sales staff, I would like to offer the following recommendations:
Employee behaviors Behavior is a very important factor of the organizational structure (Phillips &Gully, 2014). In order to ensure the success of the company, I would suggest focusing on hiring employees who are customer oriented and possess a positive attitude to fit the vision of ACI. People are motivated in different ways, because people are different and are motivated by different factors. In the case of ACI I am suggesting that employees are rewarded based on their sales abilities. A base goal must be set and employees should be given a bonus if their sales exceed the company’s expectations. I would further suggest that ACI use both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards to motivate employees. The intrinsic rewards are those related to the work and the satisfaction the employees receives from doing something that they like doing (Phillips &Gully, 2014). Pay-for-performance programs reward employees based on rating of their individual or team performance (Phillips &Gully, 2014). These programs can come in the form of merit increase, profit sharing as well as options for stocks (Phillips &Gully, 2014). The second system is, skill based pay. Skill based pay is simply as its name implies, pay base on an employee’s level of expertise (Phillips &Gully, 2014). This type of pay is a great tool for organizations to encourage and motivate employees to enhance their skills. The organization benefits also by having highly trained staff help make the organization successful. The third type system is the alternative reward system. This type of system rewards employees can motivate employees with rewards that do not involve money (Phillips &Gully, 2014). Many people would prefer to be recognized and shown that they are appreciated. With this system will like save money by showing small gestures of recognition. The fourth system is the lifelong learning system; in this system the organization provides continuous training to ensure that staff is kept updated on their jobs to keep up the changes in technology. This system ca be very motivational to employees wishing to advance or pursue educational
