There should be a collective, international effort made by the global community, world leaders, the United Nations, and local governments. We must work with communities to develop courses of action to tackle hunger. Above all, the root causes of hunger must be addressed in order to achieve long-term and sustainable solutions. Eliminating poverty is a means of eliminating world hunger. If we provide impoverished people with the resources they need (land, money, and tools), they will be more able to rise above the crippling hunger and work and learn. Helping farmers to grow more food and earn more is crucial to reducing poverty and hunger. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, “investment in agriculture is five times more effective in reducing poverty and hunger than investment in any other sector.” Investment in agriculture needs to include support and training for small farmers, such as the better rice-planting and irrigation methods that were introduced in South Asia which helped to transform it. Any efforts made must be sustainable; in other words, local people must be ultimately responsible for any programs to ensure long-term success. Local governments need to focus on areas such as healthcare, education, food security, clean water, and income generation. Healthcare policies should provide nutritional advice and support to families, especially children. Malnutrition can also be greatly reduced when there is a focus on eliminating gender inequality and empowering women. Communities will be less vulnerable to the effects of climate change if they incorporate policies to manage natural resources. The solution to global hunger lies in governmental action centered on sustainable relief and advocacy development
