“The United Nations was born of perceived necessity, as a means of better arbitrating international conflict and negotiating peace than was provided for by the old League of Nations” (History, The United Nations Is Born, Par 2) In April 25, 1945 the first Conference of the U.N Charter was held at San Francisco. 51 nations were considered to be the the original members of the U.N. Including members from continental European states, North, Central and South America, Middle Eastern States, Soviet republics, East Asian nations and African States. The U.N had two other important objectives described in the charter. First one was respecting the principles of equal rights and self determination of all people. Second objective was international cooperation in solving economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian problems around the world. The U.N is broken into different branches. The Security Council is the main branch of the U.N. They have the responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security of the world. The security council has 15 members and each one of the has a vote. They also have five permanent members which are called the Big Five. Unfortunately they achieve that and they sought vengeance against the ethnic groups. They killed, looted villages and burned them as well. These acts of violence led to the formations of many rebel groups from the previous Uganda amy.
