When viewing the concept of want vs. need people begin to realize that the valuables that make you happy don’t always cost money. Going through the meaning of a need and a want is that they are completely different. A want is more of something you long for while, a need is similar to something that is required.There several different stories that show why it’s incompetent to always receive what you want instead of what you need. Having to always want can have a negative result on a person’s life. Examples of this are King Midas, The Necklace, and The Thrill of the Chase.
To start there is the first example that is called “The Necklace”. In the course of the story a married woman becomes depressed with her life because she didn’t have what she wanted and what she wanted was to be rich, but it wasn’t just to be rich, she wanted the rich life while having expensive things and to have everyone envy her impeccable gowns and gorgeous possessions. In addition, she had used her husband to buy her dress and had asked a friend of hers to borrow an “expensive” diamond necklace.
